The Tron Trains Make Me Face a Harsh Reality

The tagline for Topless Robot is “nerd news, humor, and self-loathing.” The news and humor is obvious, but some people are confused about the self-loathing part. The point is that while I am a nerd, I do recognize that being a nerd is often an intrinsically ridiculous thing. Some times that’s insane fan fiction, but more often it’s just someone caring way too much about something not terribly importantly. I poke fun at those people, but I’m well aware I do the same thing, and when I go insane about Masters of the Universe, a lot of you guys are there to make fun of me. As you should. I’m being ridiculous too, because I’m also a nerd. Fair play.

I bring this up because every once in a while, something happens that makes you look at your own nerdy self, and gives you a clear view of how ridiculous you truly are. Case in point — I’d heard about the Tron: Legacy-themed trains at Disney, and was dying to see them. /Film obliged with a video, and you know what I saw? This:

…yeah. Some trains. With a lightcycle painted on the side. Going about 20 mph. I had been eagerly anticipating one of the most boring online videos I have ever seen, just because Tron was tangentially involved, and I am properly ashamed. Just thought you should know.
