?Here’s a bit of neat news — the tangled rights mess between the BBC, Fox and Universal Pictures has finally been undone, meaning that the 1996 American Doctor Who TV movie, starring Paul McGann as the not-at-all-bad 8th Doctor, will finally, finally be released in America on DVD sometime in the next 12 months. TV Shows on DVD says it’ll be quite the special edition, perhaps even slightly more special than the one already slated for release in the U.K., although we’ll have to wait and see what extras are actually on it. Does this long-awaited DVD finally coming indicate that anything is possible, and even the rights for something as complicated as the ’60s Batman TV series could be worked out? No. It doesn’t. Still, it’s nice to have this, at least.
