TR Contest: Choose Your Own Gladiator Fight

?We have a special contest this weekend: the good folks of Starz have offered three copies of their show Spartacus: Blood and Sand on DVD/Blu-ray to the winners. Now, you should know my feelings for the show — it’s jam-packed with gratuitous sex and violence, and is thus massively, massively entertaining — it’s a guilty pleasure that you don’t feel guilty for, because it’s just so damned fun.

So, in keeping with the prize, this weekend’s contest is this: If you could choose any two people, real or fictional, to fight to the death in a gladiatorial arena, who would it be… and why? Would it be a match to punish someone, or would it be a match purely for entertainment’s sake? Would there be any special rules or weapons involved?

This might sound like a simple contest, but please note: Several hundred of you are going to say Michael Bay, Jar Jar Binks, and Stephenie Meyer versus Godzilla or some such. In all likelihood, none of those entries will win, because they’re so obvious. It’s all about creativity here, whether it’s hilariously cruel or just an awesome fight nerds would actually enjoy seeing. So if you’re going to use one of our normal punching bags, you’d best have a very clever opponent or match type or something to make it interesting.

All right: Two entries per person, keep them short (really, there’s no need any of them should be too long), and the contest ends at 12:01 am EST on Monday, December the 6th. Now, LET THE GAMES… BEGIN.
