Holy @#$%, The Hobbit’s Gonna Be a Trilogy

It’s official! If you want to know how Peter Jackson is going to pad the 320-page Hobbit into three movies, here’s a quote with a bit of info:

We know creatively how compelling and engaging the story can be and–lastly, and most importantly–we know how much of the tale of Bilbo Baggins, the Dwarves of Erebor, the rise of the Necromancer, and the Battle of Dol Guldur would remain untold if we did not fully realize this complex and wonderful adventure. I’m delighted that New Line, MGM and Warner Bros. are equally enthusiastic about bringing fans this expansive tale across three films.

Well. While those Tolkien fans how hated Jackson’s Lord of the Rings movies are busy having their heads explode with rage, I might as well point out I’m less worried about Jackson turning The Hobbit into a trilogy — I imagine whatever the outcome, the three movies will be pretty entertaining — and more worried specifically that he’s urning The Hobbit into a trilogy this late in the game. I know we still have five months before An Unexpected Journey comes out, but the scripts were written for both movies a long time ago; I don’t know how seemlessly shit can just be added in at this point. Oh, it could certainly be fine… but it also could result in a big, bloated mess. Just sayin’. (Via Twitch)
