Worf Is Under the Impression He’s Going to Make a Worf Spin-Off

Michael Dorn is making me sad. The actor, best known for playing Worf in a variety of Star Trek TV shows, is trying to make a Worf-themed Star Trek series, and seems to believe he can do it. This is not true. See, Paramount owns the Star Trek license, and the only Trek thing they’re concerned with right now are the J.J. Abrams movies. They don’t want to confuse mass audiences by bringing back classic Trek in any way, shape or form, and they also don’t want to deal with it. So the chances of Dorn getting a Worf movie are about the same as me playing Worf in the Worf TV show: nil.

To Dorn’s credit, he does recognize the Paramount thing is an issue (here’s his quote from an interview with Trek News):

We’ve been contacted by different individuals-I can’t say who and all that-about wanting to come on board and be part of this. Also, there’s all the political stuff going on with the new movies, with J.J. Abrams and Paramount and all that stuff, which I have no clue about and what it all entails, but that’s where it is right now.”

Unfortunately, Dorn doesn’t realize this is an insurmountable issue. Which makes this no different than any other Trek fan project happening right now. Sorry, Worf. Please don’t qlp me.
