It’s a Jurassic World After All

Hold onto your butts. Again. Universal has just announced that they’ll be returning to milk the cash cow that is the Jurassic Park franchise once more. From The Hollywood Reporter:

Universal Pictures has set a release date and title for the fourth installment of the Jurassic Park franchise. Jurassic World will hit theaters on June 12, 2015.

Steven Spielberg, who directed the 1993 original and its 1997 follow-up, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, will produce along with Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley. Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) will direct from a draft of a screenplay he wrote with Derek Connolly, and the film will be shot in 3D.

The last time filmgoers visited the dino-packed island was in 2001’s Jurassic Park III, a film in which the protagonists got to dig through dinosaur shit for what felt like 20 minutes. Hopefully less indignities await the characters in Jurassic World…not to mention the audience. No word on exactly what the story is yet, but I’m crossing my fingers that it will be a period drama depicting the lives of some aristocratic dinosaurs and their servants. My dream for Dino Abbey is simply too powerful not to come true.
