Ask Luke’s Mother-in-Law: Cousin Itt and Cauliflower Soup

AdamsFamilyCast

Got questions? Martha Boyd has all sorts of answers. A desert-dweller, self-proclaimed crazy cat lady, former LAPD officer and widow to a Green Beret, she’s seen and heard things crazier than you’ve imagined. And is ready for whatever odd questions you have, so bring them on!

Hi all. Well we made it thru opening night of the show Addams Family: the Musical. We had a full house for both shows and the balance of the run is filling up. Yippi. This week I am including pictures from the show and backstage. One of my favorite is of me and my fellow lady ancestors. I’m the one on the end with the big wig. Then there is the full cast at the end of the first act and a pic of Gomez and Morticia. I hope you enjoy. If anyone is going to be out this way between now and Halloween get a reservation to see the show. It is at Theatre 29 in 29 Palms, CA. Love to see some of you.

Ancestors

Really, Disneyland – we need to raise prices again? Walt must be spinning in his grave. He always said he wanted a place for families to come. I don’t believe he felt they would need to mortgage the farm to do it. I never go in the summer or holiday periods, as why spend all that money to maybe get on 2-3 rides and have to wait hours in line with ½ of humanity. An annual pass with no blackouts and free parking is over $1000 (they raised this by a couple hundred dollars) and the pass with blackout is now over $800. I used to have a So Cal Annual pass. Not anymore. Disney needs to remember a lot of the annual holders were locals who did not come in necessarily ride the rides but to spend money at the shops and have lunch or go for dinner. Frankly, as I got older, I didn’t give a rat’s ass about most of the rides. I did love to get the gals together and go to lunch at the Blue Bayou and then go shopping – we could drop several hundred dollars every time we went to lunch and shopping. Not a happy Mouse on this issue.

If you’re like me these days and would rather eat cheaply, here’s another easy soup recipe:

Cauliflower/Corn/cheese soup:

I invented this one and am happy to share: Again, everything came from my local 99 cent store. It is done in the crockpot

1 package 8 oz shredded cheddar/jack cheese $1.99

1 can Progresso Cream of Mushroom soup $0.99

1 pack 4 oz Original Jack links $0.99

1 can creamed corn $0.69

1 cup milk (the carton was $0.99) $0.25

1 pack of mushroom caps $0.99

1 head chopped cauliflower $0.99

1 Tbspoon onion power (jar is $0.99) $0.05

(salt/pepper to taste you can also add ½ stick butter if you like butter)

Total cost about: $6.94 – makes about 6-8 bowls depending on your bowl size

Now on to your questions:

Gallen Dugall:

QUESTION!!! Why can’t we have nice things?

Oh, I’m sure you have nice things.

Rebecca Williamson:

MOMOA! Swoon! Did he smell nice? Of course he did.

Yep

James Polk:

Dear Ms. Ppraisal,

Kudos on the interview with arkay’s boyfriend. You better watch out because I hear she’s crazy jealous when her boo talks to other girls.

My question is this: Did Jason Momoa smell good? About how tall do you think he is really? Regarding his wife, did you ever see the movie Angel Heart? It is/was one of my favorite moves hen it came out.

Yes, he smelled nice, I would say maybe 6ft 8 in. He is really tall. And yes, I liked Angel Heart also. His wife is very pretty.

James Polk:

 Ms. Ppraisal,

As The Bad Nerd, I find myself uninterested in toys, pro wrestling, and My Little Pony. Is there any way to reqest a broadening of stories for TRV? I actually like the fast food reviews, your column, and movie news much more than some of the stuff they pops up every day. I know you have the editor’s ear, what influence can you offer and how much will it cost me to buy it?

Well, I know he reads all of the questions and answers so – Luke see what you can do. I know he works really hard on getting a well-rounded site. He spends lots of time on the Internet etc searching out things. I even send along stuff when I find it. Send him some ideas.

John Hanna:

think that’s a LAV-25. Not exactly a tank, but a light armored recon vehicle.

I’m not sure really what it was. I just found it cool to see the vehicles rolling down the Hwy thru town.

Gallen Dugall:

QUESTION!!! Following yet another penguin handler maiming the Georgia Aquarium finally (and quietly) replaced the vicious murderous Chinstrap Penguins in their penguin exhibit with African Penguins, which are technically more closely related to ducks, and now that I can finally sleep at night I have begun giving pillows serious consideration. I even did research online but the results were very odd
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Pillow

So my QUESTION!!! is over memory foam, down, shredded foam, feathers, apparently the Chinese used ceramic way back when, and plastic tubes are currently trending – what’s your opinion?

I just love a good down pillow. My next favorite is one I got at a store in L.A. that is filled with very tiny plastic pellets, it squishes really nicely.

Well, hope you enjoy the recipes. We got some very nice and needed rain the other day – a nice soft one so it soaked in. Fall is in the air it is starting to cool down a bit and I can open windows and get fresh air into the house. Anyway that is it for this week. Please send questions. As always be good to each other this next week and Huggs.
