The Sorcerer’s Apprentice Ain’t Got Time for No Brooms

So. This is a trailer for the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced, Nic Cage-starring Sorcerer’s Apprentice Disney movie based on the famed segment from Fantasia. I say “based,” although other than both of them involving wizards and magic, there seems to be no resemblance between to the two. Now, Fantasia has always been my favorite Disney movie, so I thought I’d be quick to be pissed about this thing, but really, even my nerdy affections can’t overcome the certainty that you can’t make a whole movie about renegade brooms. And I think a lot of the special effects look pretty cool, and I’m seldom impressed by such things. So I don’t know how I feel about this. Intrigued, maybe? Weird. Maybe it’s magic.
