DC Sees Marvel’s Sam Jackson/Nick Fury and Raises Them an Angela Bassett/Amanda Waller

?Variety says that Angela Bassett has been hired to play Amanda Waller in the Green Lantern movie. For the nerds who don’t count comics as part of their nerdy repertoire, Waller is a villainess who works mostly with the government, running the Suicide Squad, Checkmate, and mainly just fucking with the Justice League. Chances are Bassett will be playing this role in more than one DC movie — well, she would if DC/Warner Bros. had any sense, which remains to be seen.
Side-note: Anyone else totally fall in love with Angela Bassett in Strange Days? She was all kinds of kick-ass in that movie; I remember even my girlfriend at the time having a nerd girl-crush on her because she was so great. I know she’s mucking about on Grey’s Anatomy now, but I’ll always consider her a nerd icon for that movie. Am I alone in this?
