The Dark Knight Rises Just Trolled Everybody

?Remember all the madness regrading who Joseph Gordon-Lovitt would play in The Dark Knight Rises? All the theories and rumors and supposed insider information, which had JGL playing anyone from The Riddler to Alberto Falcone? Well, Chris Nolan and Warner Bros. would like to officially point at you and say “HA HA,” Nelson-style. From the official press release:

Gordon-Levitt will play John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon.

Yep. He’s playing some random cop that’s never been featured in the comic. And for good measure Marjorie Cotillard is playing Miranda Tate, “Cotillard will appear as Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member
eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father’s
philanthropic endeavors for Gotham” who is someone else who is totally new, unknown and has zero reasons anyone should give a shit about her.

I should be mad, but I’m actually totally impressed. Well done, Nolan and WB. You got us good. Now if you’ll just confirm that Juno Temple will be playing a random passer-by named Jane Brown or something, we can finally move on with our lives. (Via /Film)
