Videogame Trifecta: Lollipop Chainsaw, Devil May Cry, Soul Calibur V

? Before you dismiss Lollipop Chainsaw as another in the Hot Topic-pandering “sluts vs. zombies” game genre, you should know that it’s made by the dude behind No More Heroes, Godhand, and Shadows of the Damned, and written by the writer/director of Slither and Super. So that’s a pretty decent pedigree. Honestly, to me, it looks like they saw Bayonetta and said, “well, it’s good, but it seems a little highbrow” — and I loved the shit out of Bayonetta. Anyways, if the zombies actually pop and have cartoon hearts shoot out of their bodies when they’re cut by a chainsaw, that’s probably all I need.

? And speaking of Bayonetta, here’s what I believe is the first gameplay video of the new Devil May Cry game (called simply Devil May Cry) which looks exactly like Bayonetta (well, moreso than usual). Now, I’m not a fan of the DMC games, but I consider this an improvement because I can actually see what’s going on, something I couldn’t do at any point during my time playing DMC. Although, seriously, I’d rather just have a Bayonetta sequel.

? This is a new trailer for Soul Calibur V, and even though I can barely tell what’s happening in it, and even though it’s still goofy as all hell, seeing it has made me realize I’m going to buy the fucking game despite the fact I’ve been increasingly disappointed with every SC game since the masterpiece that was Soul Calibur I, and will almost certainly be even moire disappointed with this one. God, being a nerd sucks sometimes.
