Movie News That Might Not Happen Trifecta: Riddick 3, X-Files 3, Expendables 2

?? Pre-production work is happening on Vin Diesel’s third Riddick movie, where he tweeted the above storyboard image and said the film will be rated R. There’s no shooting date, though. So really, the only part of Riddick 3 that exists at this moment is the storyboard pic. Just sayin’. (Via Bloody Disgusting)

Gillian Anderson said she “hopes” a third X-Files movie will premiere in 2012, despite the fact that the movie would already need to be shooting, but doesn’t have a script or commitments or anything. A third X-Files flick coming out in 2012 is utterly impossible, and yet many sites are reporting Anderson’s “hope” as if it were anything approaching fact. Not only do I not believe, I don’t want to believe, and I’m kind of offended by anyone who does. (Via Moviehole)

? However — the rumors of Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme starring in The Expendables 2? That I want to believe. They’re both listed on the official Millennium Films website, so either 1) someone in online jumped the gun, 2) they got hacked, or 3) it’s true. Since I loved the first Expendables (Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham fly over a dock of goons, empty their fuel over them, then fly back and set everybody on fire — what’s not to love?) I really, really hopes it’s #3. It does, however, seem far too good to be true. (Via Coming Soon)
