Videogame Trifecta: Arkham City, Expendables 2, PSX All-Stars

? Variety says the Batman: Arkham City sequel will actually be an Arkham City prequel, chronicling Batman’s first meeting with Joker, possibly around the time as the formation of the Justice League, set back in the Silver Age. Now, whether Variety means “Silver Age” as in “a long time ago prior to modern times when these events actually first happened” or “Silver Age” as in “the fucking Silver Age,” I don’t know. I have a hard time imagining a truly Silver Age version of Arkham City, but when I manage it, I have to change my pants.

? The Expendables 2 videogame looks like a modern interpretation of Ikari Warriors, Guerilla War, and all the top top-down shooters of my youth. Which is to say The Expendables 2 videogame looks fucking awesome.
? If you’d like to be irritated, feel free to watch Sony’s new commercial for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, which features a huge throng of young, attractive hipsters salaciously licking cupcakes and cheering for the game, because those things are very much in common. When you realize they appear to be cheering specifically for the game’s two new characters — who happen to be Sony’s Japanese cat mascot no one in America gives a shit about, and Tekken‘s Heihachi, a character from a much more popular fighting game — it gets even more annoying.
