Wreck-It Ralph Wrecks Himself Before He Checks… Wait…

The new trailer for Wreck-It Ralph is here — a movie which I’m under the impression might not be a Pixar film, just a regular Disney one — and it’s still cute, if not as joy-inducing as the first, probably because we’ve seen all the videogame cameos already. I have two thoughts, though: 1) While I found the trailer less effective overall, was anyone else kind of weirdly touched by the phrase “for anyone who needs a restart on life”? That hit me right in my nerd emotion gland for some reason. 2) Assuming this movie’s primary audience is children, which as a Disney movie I believe it is, what kid is going to have anyone idea who or what the @#$% Q-Bert is? As a older nerd, I appreciate the cameo, but that’s got to be a tough sell to kids. “Wait a second. You’re telling me that was an old videogame? About an orange ball-thing who can’t talk right jumping around on a pyramid? No offense, old person, but your videogames were dumb as shit.” And then I have to beat them while telling them about the awesomeness of Pitfall II. I’m expecting problems, is all. (Via First Showing)
