Sesame Street Does Downton Abbey
I never thought I’d have cause to write about Downton Abbey more than once. But this, I can’t resist:
I’m reminded of when I was a kid and Sesame Street did Upstairs Downstairs, with Cookie Monster as “Alistair Cookie.” The entire skit consisted of him Grover running up and down the stairs going, “I am upstairs! Now I am going to go…downstairs!” and vice versa. It made that title stick in my head, and laugh when I got older and found out that wasn’t the real plot.
This is slightly different, in that Downton Abbey probably won’t be around by the time today’s kids grow up. It just makes things more watchable for their parents now. Plus, PBS synergy and all that.
