Syfy Is Doing a Henson Creature Shop Reality Show

Good news for those of you who (correctly) consider Face Off to be one of the network’s best shows – Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge, airing in 2014, will be the same sort of thing, but with creature-building. Judged by Brian Henson and others, the most sensational, celebrational, inspirational winner will get a job working at the actual Creature Shop.
In fact, Syfy so clearly knows that Face Off has more credibility than most of its shows that they’re almost positioning this as a spin-off:
“As Face Off does with SFX makeup application, Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge showcases the incredible imagination and artistry of lifelike creature construction,” said (president of original content Mark] Stern. “We are honored to partner with The Jim Henson Company and Brian Henson on this series. The Creature Shop has set the bar for a caliber of work that is unmatched in quality, design and sheer imagination.”
Yet you didn’t think to use this angle on your cosplay show.
It’s too bad they couldn’t call it “Master of Puppets.”
