A Monster Calls Teaser Gets Frightening With Giant Creature and Liam Neeson Growl
A slight word or two of warning is in order. Although this is the director of The Orphanage, Juan Antonio Bayona, making another tale of kids and scares, the real horror in the movie is the cancer the boy’s mother has. The monster is what gives him the strength to get through it, by telling him stories and “possessing” him.
But Liam Neeson plays the monster, and he’s doing a growly shtick that literally sounds like what he’s thinking in his head is, “Raaar! I’m a monster!” I hope this turns out more Dreamchild than Bridge to Terabithia.
