I Love It When a Toyline Comes Together

Of the meager news that did hit over the holiday weekend, this was part of it. From About.com:

Jazwares?, a leader in the licensed products marketplace, has
been tapped by Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising (Fox
Licensing) to develop an extensive toy line for the upcoming feature
film The A-Team. The launch of the Jazwares product line, which
includes action figures in various sizes, vehicles, and electronics,
will coincide with the movie’s release in June 2010.

The Jazwares toy line will include 3 ?” action figures in an
A-Team assortment and villain assortment, 12″ B.A. Baracus and Hannibal
Smith collector figures with voice chips, an electronic A-Team van for
the 3 ?” figures, plus other retailer exclusive packs. The product line
will also include electronic items such as Walkie Talkies, an alarm
clock and digital camera.

Two things — first, note the word “extensive” there. Could that mean toys of the original TV series as well? Who knows, but it hardly seems impossible; Mr. T seems pretty open to signing away his likeness rights, and Dirk Benedict and Dwight Schultz could probably use the paycheck. Unfortunately, the second thing is that I primarily know Jazwares through their truly godawful Samurai Champloo figures, and if they are any indication, the A-Team figures will be shit. Now, Jazwares did make the recent Astro Toy movie figures, which looked at least okay as I set them on fire in protest at my local Toys “R” Us, but “okay” might be as good as Jazwares can get. Just sayin’. (Via 16bit)
