MechWarrior’s Coming Back, and Here’s Why You Don’t Need to Be Excited

?I’ve previously mentioned growing up PC-less, and how my few PC game experiences occurred over at the my friend Tony’s house. I mention this again because the one PC game I played and not just watched was MechWarrior. Man, traveling the galaxy, accepting mercenary contracts, trying to shoot other mechs in the cockpit so you could kill their pilot instead of just disabling the mech… good times.

I bring this up because Piranha Games has finally released some info about their new MechWarrior game. First, it’s PC only, which sucks for me, but I imagine is a nice warm fuzzy for PC guys). Second, it’s a free online MMO, which sucks for pretty much everybody who was looking forward to a new MechWarrior game, as it almost certainly means it will have overly simplistic gameplay to cater to the widest possible audience and end up inevitably, extremely mediocre. Oh, maybe it’ll be awesome, but it won’t be a hardcore mech battle experience, which is what MechWarrior fans want it to be. But non-fans? They just might be in for a treat!
