The Dark Knight Makes Bruce Wayne Money

So I’m just going to assume that you all saw The Dark Knight this weekend, because it appears that most people in America decided to head out to the theater. TR‘s infinitely more popular/respected/serious sister blog Deadline Hollywood Daily says The Dark Knight should be making about $155 million dollars this weekend, which, uh…is a lot of money in a very short amount of time. It also means The Dark Knight has broken many, many records, including:

? BIGGEST SINGLE-DAY GROSS IN BOX-OFFICE HISTORY WITH $67.850 MILLION (BESTS THE $59,841,919 SET BY SPIDER-MAN 3 IN 2007).

? BIGGEST OPENING WEEKEND GROSS IN BOX OFFICE HISTORY WITH $155.340 MILLION (BESTS THE $151,116 MILLION SET BY SPIDER-MAN 3 IN 2007).

DHD actually has seven other records The Dark Knight has also broken, if you’re curious, but these are the big ones. Certainly it’s a big warm fuzzy for DC, which can comfort themselves over the next few years when Marvel releases its dozen or so next movies and they’re still sitting around wondering what the hell to do with Superman, Wonder Woman and Justice League. Oh, and for those still patiently waiting, my review will be up in a few hours; I need some time to sober up organize my thoughts.
